Our Next Sanctioned Event: May 12 & 13, 2012 - Mt. Diablo |
 |
| Mt. Diablo is famous for great spring wildflower displays. Drive to a remote start and walk into the park. Water and restrooms are at the registration point. There are no amenities along the trails as the State Park is mostly undeveloped. You should always carry enough water to avoid dehydration. Neither of the routes this weekend go to the top of Mt. Diablo. Walkers may avoid the driving to the remote start which will add 2k to their walk. |
Doner Canyon The 5k is rated 2-B, the 10k has parts that are 4-B. The waterfall trail goes up Donner Canyon Road at an easy grade, then joins a steep, narrow, and slippery trail looping around a canyon with several waterfalls. This trail requires fording or leaping several streams. |
Mitchell Canyon Rated 2-B. This dirt trail goes across the lower reaches of the mountain to the Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center, through a native plant garden, then up Mitchell Canyon Road, an easy grade. |
